Hougang Central: right at the centre of Hougang
LinkTown Residences (also searched as Hougang Central Residences) is the upcoming Hougang Central condo, set at Hougang Central around Hougang MRT station in District 19. This is the transport, retail and community centre of an estate of about 230,000 residents.
Hougang has only about 2.8 sq ft of private retail space per person, against a national average of 11.4 sq ft. The new mall fills a real gap, and residents live right on top of it.
Transport: one station, two lines

Why the Cross Island Line matters here
Today, most north-east residents travel into the city and back out to reach the east or the central-north. CRL Phase 1 changes that with 12 stations: Aviation Park, Loyang, Pasir Ris East, Pasir Ris, Tampines North, Defu, Hougang, Serangoon North, Tavistock, Ang Mo Kio, Teck Ghee and Bright Hill.
From Hougang, that means direct rides to the Loyang and Pasir Ris side of the east, the Defu industrial area and Ang Mo Kio, without going through the city. - Holy Innocents’ Primary School and CHIJ Our Lady of the Nativity are reported to be within about 1 km.
- Other primary schools in Hougang include Xinmin Primary and Punggol Primary.
- Secondary schools in the area include Montfort Secondary and Xinmin Secondary.
Having a primary school next door is uncommon even in mature estates, and it is one of the reasons Hougang Central tends to draw young families as well as HDB upgraders.

Shopping, food and leisure
- Integrated mall (~300,000 sq ft NLA): set to be the largest mall in Hougang, with a diverse F&B line-up, right downstairs.
- Town plaza: a sheltered public event space for markets, performances and community events.
- Hougang Mall: around a two-minute walk.
- NEX at Serangoon: two stops away on the NEL.
- Waterway Point, Punggol: around a 15-minute drive, next to the Punggol Waterway.
- Parks and sport: Punggol Park for jogging and cycling, and Hougang Sports Centre for swimming and court games.
- Community: Punggol Community Club is close to the site.
Daily life without a car
For many buyers the real appeal of the location is how little driving it needs. Groceries, food, banks and clinics are expected in the mall downstairs; school runs to Montfort Junior School are a short walk; and the MRT and bus interchange handle the commute. Households that currently own a car mainly for errands may find they can do without one, which changes the monthly budget considerably. If you do drive, the KPE gives a direct route south towards the city, and the TPE links to the east and Changi side.
Healthcare
For everyday care, Hougang Polyclinic serves the town, alongside the many GP and dental clinics you find in any mature HDB estate. For specialist and emergency care, Sengkang General Hospital is a short drive away. Families with elderly parents will appreciate having a bus interchange and MRT downstairs for clinic visits.
Neighbourhood character
Hougang is a mature, family-oriented town: established HDB blocks, long-time hawker favourites and plenty of greenery. Unlike newer towns, the amenities are already here. What it has lacked is a large modern mall and a direct link to the east and central-north, which is exactly what the Hougang Central integrated development brings.
The Punggol Digital District nearby adds a new jobs hub with JTC business parks and the Singapore Institute of Technology campus.
